The Cortina Systems® CS8022 Quad OLT EPON (CS8022 Quad OLT) is a non-blocking access aggregation switch with isolation features that can enable system vendors to build the most cost effective, high performance, and highdensity EPON system. In addition to the traditional EPON MAC functions, this device integrates powerful L2 switch functions, which are fully compliant to IEEE and CTC EPON specifications. With these rich features, customers can easily and cost-competitively add the line card to a high-density EPON OLT chassis without any local expensive switch/network processor chip by connecting the XAUI interfaces to the backplane.
The CS8022 Quad OLT is Cortina’s second generation Optical Line Terminal (OLT) device and is part of the overall CortinaTM Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) solution. This device provides a complete EPON System on a Chip (SoC) solution with high-density and integration including subscriber identifier and subscriber SLA-aware packet classification, QoS policy enforcement, and advance traffic management capability. The CS8022 Quad OLT has 4 × GE/2 × XAUI NNI ports and 4 × EPON SNI ports to enable system vendors to build their high density EPON OLT system and line cards. The GE NNI ports can operate in 2.5 Gbps mode providing higher data rates on the same interface. In addition, for quaranteed QoS and improved throughput, latency, and accuracy, there is a CPU to run control software, 4 DBA CPUs to run DBA algorithms, and two FE management ports.
