Intelligent Operating System (iROS™) provides a complete PON system management and control software on which system equipment vendors can build products quickly and cost-effectively. iROS is an intelligent platform that provides several levels of system abstraction with modular building blocks. The abstraction hides the underlying chipset complexity yet exploits the power of the architecture design and switching engine. The modular structure of the software architecture allows more reliable maintenance and upgrades. The modular building blocks simplify the initial software development effort and allow future software reuse across generations of the chipset. In addition, these building blocks are written with a robust and proven set of software development methodologies.
Designed from the ground up, iROS is isolated from underlying hardware details. It accelerates time to market by freeing customers from the need to understand register and data structure details. iROS provides a complete functional abstraction of all Layer 2/3/4 functions, and maintains hardware and operating system independence.
